Now is a good time to prepare your grab-bag, there are many reasons to get out quick.
To avoid worry you should always prepare a grab-bag, it is the
last thing we consider but it is the most important when a warning emergency strikes, safety comes first.
You should know the importance of having a grab bag prepared at ALL TIMES as it will not cost you much, it is essential for your family, convenient and it is very necessary.
Here we will help you to consider the
items that a grab bag should have in the below list
Prepare for medical emergency, a First aid kit is what you should never forget including the basic medicines such as pain reliever like paracetamol, colds and flu medicine.
A box of antiseptic plasters, some water purification tablets and any prescription medicines that you need for all your family.
We recommend you to have bottled water in your grab-bag.
Food that can’t spoil such as canned goods, noodles, energy bars and more dried foods.
Disaster comes at anytime and sometimes it happens with no time for us to get ready so always keep your battery operated radio, flashlight and extra batteries in your grab-bag.
Sometimes in a rush we misplace our spare keys like our house or car keys, I do advise you to be wise enough to put some extra keys in your grab-bag for your convenience.
Having extra shirts, knickers, sanitary items and a blanket in your grab bag would be more than helpful.
Being trained thoroughly all the time is what we advise, you should involve all the family and have emergency drills.
You should all know your alternative exits, how and where to turn off the Electricity and Gas supply, you should arrange where you will meet in case you are separated.
These details should be printed out, carried by each member of the family and a copy put in your grab bag, together with details of a contact person living outside of the danger area.
It is a good idea to write their telephone number on the forearm of everyone in your family with an indelible marker.
Because cash machines may not be available, We advise you to have cash in your grab bag in case of a financial emergency.
To make things easier you should have a
multi-tool pocket knife in your grab bag, and a means of making fire, a plastic
sheet for protection and some string or light rope so you can make a shelter and a roll of gaffer tape a useful addition which is been suggested as an additional means of making fire is a small amount of steel wool, you can use this to start a fire with any battery or even a cellphone you can see this demonstrated on practicalsurvivalist.com
In addition we advise you to pack dried emergency rations the best ones are those made for the army or for supplying to lifeboats, also you should have coffee and dried fruit juice in your grab bag.
If you can get hold of one of the small emergency water filtration units that are bottle size they are excellent for purifying water.
Fortunately with modern communication systems these dangerous situations can be monitored easily and warnings issued by local government, civil defense, police, local radio and television.
